So I went into the hospital on the early hours of the 15th of November - and was finally released back home on the 28th - two weeks solid in the burns unit.
As soon as I got out of the hospital and home to my own flat - I did what I'd spent the last two weeks thinking about - an XL Bacon Double Cheeseburger with Onion Rings from Burger King! Sufficiently stuffed - I unpacked my stuff and was glad to back in my own house, in my own bed in front of my own television!
Now I'm at home dressings needs to be done once every 2 or 3 days by myself - but my talents are improving. I'm also having weekly outpatients appointments at the burns unit to check on my progress - which are likely to continue for at least another month.
Good news however is I can get around a lot easier now - and will be going back to work (albeit from home) next Monday the 9th of December - hopefully this will stop me going stir crazy!
For anyone interested in the state of the burn itself... it's not pretty but you can take a look below. Things are progressing well - and less dressing is required each time I take another look with the hospital staff.
And as ever, a big thank you to the staff at the Adult Burns Unit in Southmead hospital for their great care over the past 3 weeks. Thanks to everyone who's read my blog so far too - I guess I now at least have something interesting / gory to write about!
